Em Setembro, só para adiantar, iniciei a preparação do vinil para repintura, visto que mais uma remessa da tinta para vinil da Du Pont estava a caminho (vocês devem se lembrar que o resultado da primeira pintura do teto ficou ruim devido a eu tê-la feito em ambiente inadequado). Então, depois de algumas lixas d´água e algumas esponjas scotch-brite com água e sabão o teto estava razoavelmente liso de novo (sem o over-spray que causou o mau resultado) e pronto para repintura, o que deverá acontecer provavelmente em Novembro.
Alem disto, mais um pouco de progresso no acabamento: Coloquei a fiação da luz de cortesia do cofre do motor (depois do tradicional trato) e também a proteção anti-ruído do motor (isso mesmo, o carro 74 também já vinha com este detalhe, afinal era um Ghia!). Também instalei um alto-falante um pouco melhor do que o original, mas ainda tenho o original. A parte interna do acabamento do carro não tem andado porque ainda precisa esperar a repintura do teto.
Em Outubro teremos grandes progressos. O carro será entregue aos cuidados de um dos maiores especialistas em mecânica Ford antiga em São Paulo e o motor finalmente vai voltar a rosnar. O carro vai receber toda a atenção necessária também para a suspensão, freios, escapamento e ar condicionado. (Aguardem!)
In September,, given that a new shipment of the Du Pont vinyl paint was on its way to Brazil, I started preparing the vinyl top to be painted again, following instructions of my friend Bill. Two or three green scrubbies and a lot of water with detergent later, the vinyl top was reasonably smooth again (without of the over-spray which had caused the bad result when I painted the first time).
There have been also some progress with the details: I have reinstalled the light wiring and the sound-deadening material that go under the hood. I have also put in a better set of speakers, although I kept the original pair, of course. The rest of the bodywork and fittings will have to wait for the vinyl to be repainted, which will probably happen in November.
Now, the very good news: We should expect a lot of progress in October. The car will be treated by one of the greatest old-Fords connoisseurs in Brazil. The engine will finally roar again. The car will also get all the professional attention that is needed to revival the brake and exhaust systems, suspension and air conditioning. Let's wait and see!
